Biography

Garret Yount, PhD, is a molecular neurobiologist whose work focuses on applying rigorous science to the study of consciousness and the non-material mind. He was among the first scientists to be awarded a Research Project Grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health to study qigong and other healing modalities involving the human biofield. To date, Dr. Yount has conducted carefully controlled laboratory experiments with spiritual healers and biofield practitioners from around the world, including the US, China, Brazil, Canada, Japan, India, Russia, Hungary, and Sri Lanka. His research has encompassed a variety of experimental models, ranging from cultured human brain cells exposed to distant healing intention to hospitalized children experiencing a novel Expressive Arts Therapy, and has been highlighted in various media outlets, including the books Entangled Minds by Dean Radin, and Extraordinary Knowing: Science, Skepticism, and the Inexplicable Powers of the Human Mind by Elizabeth Lloyd Mayer, and dramatized in the popular novel by Dan Brown, The Lost Symbol.
